Juggling Lab is the juggling animator used within JuggleWiki. It is written in the Java language, primarily by Jack Boyce but with contributions from many others.

Juggling Lab is free for non-commercial use. Most of the code is released under the GNU General Public License, however one of the components has a more restrictive license disallowing commercial use.

Juggling Lab requires Java runtime software to work, which is included in most newer browsers and operating systems. You can always download from Sun. The stand-alone Juggling Lab application requires Java 1.2, but the pattern-viewer portion used within JuggleWiki works under Java 1.1.

Key features:

  • Visual Editor for patterns with a greater range of control than any other animator
  • Realistic arm motion modeling, with hand-paths that match the velocities of balls
  • 3-D drawing engine, with 2-D wireframe orthogonal or 3-D solid viewing modes
  • Support for asynchronous, synchronous, multiplex, J2 passing, and some bounce notations
  • Animate movement of one or more jugglers in 3-D graphics
  • Create animated GIFs of patterns, and render directly into and from JML format
