Burkes Barrage
From JuggleWiki
[edit] Ken Burke's Barrage
You can see Ken himself demonstrate at the end of this video.
It is just like Mills Mess with the Cross-arm toss missing, as you can see from the '2' in its site-swap 423.
Learning the pattern is used as a step between Mills Mess and Rubensteins Revenge.
The name "Burke's Barrage" is misapplied to other tricks, including Reverse Chops.
There was a previous confusion with another person's name, Luke Burrage, who eventually made tricks called something else similar.
The version developed and taught by others features a Carry known as Take-outs.
The pattern starts from '423' Cross-arm Columns:
It then adds a Take-out up from the Cross-arm catch:
That Carry goes around under the central Column toss to become another Under-arm toss.
When you can do the Take-out maneuver, adjust the heights to make it go over the '4':
It is that whirling around that is the "barrage" aspect of this crowd-pleaser.
The animator is not going to toss the '3' up into the pattern as high as you may want to, sorry.
[edit] Reverse Burke's Barrage
This features what may be called Take-arounds ?
The motions for this are more natural, as un-natural as the pattern is -- but it isn't the one we are supposed to do.
[edit] Lazy Burke's Barrage
This variation cheats on everything!
But it will be fun to do, and fun for people to watch, if not as flamboyant as the true Burke's.
