5 Balls With A Gap
From JuggleWiki
[edit] '55550' also "Four-out-of-five"
This pattern is for many people harder than juggling five balls itself.
Other people find it good practice for learning five.
This pattern has been used when a ball is dropped out of the 5 Ball Cascade as a gag --
"Don't worry, that ball was a spare".
Mark Reid says:
- Start it as '55055'. That is, throw "left, right, pause, right, left".
- Throw the second ball just before the first one reaches the peak of its arc.
- Practice making your heights consistent.
There is a tendency to try to exaggerate the "gap" as if it was a 4-ball Cascade Flash:
That is natural, because that is what is hard about this pattern.
It won't be as steady as the top animation for a long time.
When it is, only another juggler will know you're not doing a 4-ball Cascade.
See also: 552 which is the same with an extra pause, so usually a lot easier.
If you get very frustrated, you might fall into the Wimpy Trap:
Here, the hands are not changing start for each set of four tosses.
If your tosses were to even heights, this would be harder than the proper pattern.
And you can do this if you like -- but it is not the '55550' pattern.
