Expect the animations to pause: the Java program does that.

This is 2 Ball Cross Arms:

In this animation, the animator's left arm is the upper one, making Cross-arm tosses with a Reverse arc.
The animator's right arm is also crossed to the other side to make Under-arm tosses that also are Reverse arcs.
The arms stay crossed, and the upper wrist is twisted over to be level to flip the ball backwards,
with the Right-left, Left-right, Right-left rhythm of 2-ball patterns.

To do a 2-ball version of Mills Mess, you un-cross and re-cross every pair of tosses:

In this form, each hand will first make an upper Cross-arm toss,
then catch the other ball to swing it around to make an Under-arm toss next.
The other hand will already be the upper one to catch the ball there to make its Cross-arm toss.
Each ball will always be tossed in the same way, but by switching hands.

You should start with both arms crossed, but which one tosses first is your choice.

Here, each hand makes one of the tosses, again starting with the upper Cross-arm:

The lower arm does an Outside toss, a third kind of toss used for Mills Mess.

You should practice both arrangements for each hand, so both hands can do both crossed positions equally well.
If you are very good with these patterns, 3-ball Mills Mess would be just this easy to learn.
